Professional Profile
Miss Reena Agarwal is a practising Consultant Plastic, Burns and Hand Surgeon at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, where she has been a Consultant since 2011. She has extensive experience in the assessment and management of both adult and paediatric patients with a wide range of plastic surgical conditions.
Her specialist interests include hand injuries, burns, scar management, reconstructive plastic surgery, traumatic soft tissue injuries and skin cancer.
She undertakes medico-legal work relating to personal injury and is actively involved in surgical education, research and national leadership within plastic surgery.
Medico-Legal Practice
Miss Agarwal has undertaken medico-legal practice since March 2024 and prepares independent expert reports for Personal Injury matters, including Road Traffic Accident claims. She accepts instructions involving adult and paediatric patients requiring expert opinion on burns, hand injuries, scar assessment, traumatic soft tissue injuries and general plastic surgical conditions.
She has successfully completed Bond Solon's Excellence in Report Writing (Written Evidence) course. She has not yet undertaken Clinical Negligence instructions or given evidence in Court.

Awards & Professional Recognition
Miss Agarwal has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout her career, including the Most Inspiring Role Model Educator Award (2024), NHS 25 Years' Service Recognition, and recognition for her national contributions to plastic surgery education and leadership. She has successfully established the Regional Microsurgery Training Centre in Leicester and secured significant regional and national funding to support surgical education and training.
Selected Publications
Miss Agarwal has published extensively in the fields of plastic surgery, burns, hand surgery and scar management.
Her recent work includes publications on scar management following burns, burns service development, hand injury referral pathways, toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), skin cancer surgery, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in burns, micropigmentation following burns and patient outcomes in reconstructive plastic surgery.
Her work has been published in respected peer-reviewed journals including the European Burns Journal, Burns, Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery (JPRAS) and JPRAS Open, as well as contributing to clinical guidelines and the Oxford Handbook of Operative Surgery.
